	'description':'<p>	<em>ROPOS</em> Dive 1795 occurred within Axial Caldera at the International District Hydrothermal Field. During the dive, <em>ROPOS</em> moved two instrument probes (TRHPH and THSPH already on seafloor) to their final locations in hydrothermal vents. The THSPH instrument that includes H<sub>2</sub>S, temperature and pH, was installed in the Diva vent. The TRHPH that measures resistivity and temperature was moved from its temporary location at the medium powered junction box MJ03C to the Escargot vent. Temperatures and gases were collected from Diva and Escargot using Gas Tight samplers. Niskin water bottle samples and two microbial squeeze samplers were also collected at El Gordo. At the seafloor, the profiler was observed sitting at the docking station. ROPOS disconnected cable OSHYW1 from the dock (PD01B), capped both ends of the cable with protective caps, peeled back the cable from anchor, and retrieved the beacon from the top float. 	'description':'<p>	<em>ROPOS</em> Dive 1792 was at the Oregon Shelf Site at 80 m that is part of the Endurance Array. <em>ROPOS</em> installed the zooplankton instrument (ZPLSC) with the cable to seafloor. The cable was not long enough (19 m instead of 25 m), so the sonar frame was moved closer to the medium powered junction box MJ01C. The sonar cable was connected to MJ01C. The calibration sphere for the ZPLSC was released, but the float broke away immediately. The digital still camera (CAMDS) was moved to its final position to better observe the area around Benthic Experiment Platform (BEP). The hydrophone (HYDBB) tripod initially mounted on the BEP for deployment, was moved to its final position and uncapped. 	'description':'<p>	<strong>Southern Hydrate Ridge:</strong> This was a long dive to finish work at Southern Hydrate Ridge. <em>ROPOS </em>infilled the caisson for the broadband (OSBBA1010) with silica beads and installed the CAT flow meter at Einstein&#39;s Grotto, which completed this site. <em>ROPOS</em> photomosaicked the area and took push cores and biological samples (clams). <em>ROPOS</em> transited to the large collapse zone in the NW portion of the seep area and imaged/documented the site. Here, a significant discovery was made of exposed methane hydrate on the seafloor, as well as a sustained, large bubble plume issuing from a hole at the base of the near vertical wall in the collapse zone. The dive ended with a sight-seeing tour of the Pinnacle. Two Niskin bottles were fired near the south end of the pinnacle by an area with very localized mats on the pinnacle. The ROV transited NW to the location of the broadband caisson, and on the way a carbonate rock sample was recovered. 	'description':'<p>	This dive on Southern Hydrate Ridge, was focused on surveying in cable routes. The MJ01B junction box that was deployed will be used as an anchor during a follow-on installation of extension cables for short-period seismometers. The locations for installation of the LV01B and LJ01B junction boxes were surveyed in, and pallet drop site for the Dependable was determined. The dive ended with a survey of all three extension cable routes for the seismometers. The cable was&nbsp; connected to LV01C, and ROPOS then transited back to BEP while surveying the BEP cable. At the BEP, the broadband hydrophone was moved to its final position, the&nbsp; BEP doors were closed, and the BEP area was surveyed. 	'description':'<p>	<strong>Axial Base: </strong>This dive focused on connecting the 1852 m cable (AXVMW4) running from the Low Votage Node LV03A to the Deep Profiler vertical mooring at the base of Axial Seamount, near Primary Node PN3A.&nbsp; The modified McLane Profiler approached the base of the mooring, and docked with the docking station to download data it had previously collected. <em>ROPOS</em> transited near PN3A, and connected the extension cable running from junction box LV03A (RS03W4) into the RSN/<em>ROPOS</em> interface box to test communications with the McLane Profiler, and also to download engineering and science data that it had collected. The cable was then connected into Primary Node PN3A. A large white octopus came to &quot;visit&quot; during this operation. The AXVMW4 cable was reconnected into the LV03A junction box at the end of the dive, and a beacon was removed from a large float at the top of the Deep Profiler Mooring priory to recovery of <em>ROPOS</em>.</p>',

When powered up from the Shore Station in Pacific City, Oregon, all junction boxes and instruments will have powere and two-way communication to shore.&nbsp; Connections started with the RS03W9 cable from Central Caldera to Science Port (SP) 1, followed by the RS03W7 cable from Ashes to SP2. Two extension cables running to the International District hydrothermal fields were then connected.&nbsp; The cable RS03W6 was connected to SP3, and cable RS03W8&nbsp; to SP4. The cable RS03W10 from Eastern Caldera was connected to SP5. Finally the cable&nbsp; RS03W5 fromthe high definition camera in the&nbsp; ASHES hydrothermal field was connected to port SP6HB. The final tasks included installation of the broadband seismometer, low frequence hydrophone and pressure sensor at MJ03A. A caisson was installed near this site that required blowing out sediment inside the&nbsp; caission so that the seismometer could be installed in it and covered in silica beads. The older cable (RS03W9) is the cable that had hockles in it as laid in 2013.
