Fredrik Ryden

Fredrik Ryden

Fredrik Ryden is a PhD Candidate in Electrical Engineering at University of
Washington.  He received his B.S. (2010) and M.S. (2012) degrees from
Chalmers University of Technology and University of Washington
respectively. He is currently a member of the BioRobotics Lab, working
under the supervision of Professor Howard Chizeck, where his main area of
research is haptics, underwater manipulation and surgical robotics. Fredrik
is an inventor on one international patent application as well as five US
provisional patent applications related to rendering of haptic feedback and
assisted teleoperation of robots. In May 2012, he was awarded the
Outstanding Research Award by the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Prior to graduate school, Fredrik had an internship with the Drilling and
Well Subsea Support group at Statoil ASA, Norway. During this internship,
he worked with drilling and intervention engineers both onshore as well as
offshore in the North Sea.
