Geoff joined APL in 2010 to work on the RSN. He  is a Pofessional Engineer working on the development of the RSN shallow profiler and vertical mooring systems. He holds a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington and a professional engineering license with the State of Washington. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He worked for over 20 years in aerospace, power-cable splice and termination design, pulp and paper, and biotech manufacturing prior to joining APL. He greatly enjoys the drinking-from-the-fire-hose experience of coming up to speed with all the technologies necessary for the successful deployment and functioning of this leading-edge cabled undersea observatory.

In the little spare time available to him, he enjoys running, baking artisanal breads, mixing classic cocktails, working on cars, reading all kinds of books that are printed on actual paper, and occasionally degriming and tuning up the bicycle that he rides to and from work every day. He has a wonderful family and a somewhat egocentric cat.
