Reson Sonar

High-resolution bathymetry and imagery data in real time will be collected with the RESON SeaBat 7125 multibeam sonar aboard both the AUV Sentry and ROV Jason. This system enables scientists to collect extremely detailed 3-D representations of underwater features and seafloor conditions. The system is a dual frequency multibeam echosounder that covers a 128º swath with a typical range of 300 m. Data collected with the RESON SeaBat 7125 has the fine-scale resolution necessary to show features such as lava flow fonts and hydrothermal vents.
