Seafloor Pressure Sensor

Live Pressure Data from the Seafloor

Real-time measurements provided by seafloor pressure sensors are of great importance because lunar tides, storms, and tsunamis strongly impact pressures at the seafloor and the flow of fluids into and out of the oceanic crust.

Pressure sensors are now installed and connected to the Primary Infrastructure at the RSN Slope Base Site (PN1A), at the Axial Base Site (PN3A), and three are now installed within Bottom Pressure Tilt Sensors at the summit of Axial Seamount. Pressure sensors are also installed within the Deep Profiler wire crawlers installed, cabled, and powered up at the Slope Base, Axial Base, and at the Oregon Offshore sites.
