According to Paul Hagstrom, Associate Project Manager/Senior Project Engineer (OOI RSN), Consortium for Ocean Leadership, who is on board the TE SubCom Dependable for the duration of the RSN Primary Node Installation work, the ship left the Swan Island dock in Portland, Oregon, at 1300h PDT on Friday, August 3, and was crossing the Columbia River Bar near Astoria some 8 hours later. The transit to the Mid-Plate Primary Node 5A (PN5A) was expected to take 12 hours. First operations once on site will be to grapple and recover the end of cable segment 6. Water depth at this node site is 2850 meters. Check back for more details later.
