Research
Cabled ocean observatories offer innovative approaches to oceanographic research and are enablng studies of a broad spectrum of natural phenomena for decades.
The OOI Regional Cabled Array submarine cabled observatory is providing wide-ranging research and educational opportunities for the community. Research proposals focused on adding instruments and infrastructure onto the submarine fiber optic network, proposing to utilize the OOI data products, and to interact with the OOI infrastructure directly are now being accepted by the National Science Foundation. The University of Washington science and engineering team offers one-on-one technical support to interested proposers and twice yearly informational WEBEX's.
